Chinese Academy of Sciences Wins Dozens of National Science and Technology Awards — Chen Liqun Receives the State's Highest Science and Technology Award

On the morning of July 8, the National Science and Technology Rewards Conference, the General Membership Conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology were solemnly held in Beijing. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) won a total of 48 awards (recipients) at the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards, including 27 awards (recipients) as the lead institution and 21 awards as a major participating institution.

Academician Chen Liqun from the Institute of Physics, CAS, received the State's Highest Science and Technology Award. The project "Single-Atom Catalysis," led by the team of Zhang Tao from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, received the First Prize of the National Natural Science Award. A project led by the team from the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, CAS, received the First Prize of the National Technology Invention Award. The project "Five-Hundred-Meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST)," led by the National Astronomical Observatories, CAS, received the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In addition, the project "Jiahao (Striver) Full-Ocean-Depth Manned Submersible," in which multiple CAS-affiliated institutions including the Shenyang Institute of Automation participated, and another project in which the National Astronomical Observatories and other institutions participated, received the Special Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award respectively. The project "Development and Application of Key Technologies for Precise Evaluation of Engineering Rock Mass Slope Stability," in which the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, CAS, participated, received the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
