On July 15, the kickoff meeting for the National Key R&D Program "Nano Frontier" Youth Scientist Project titled "Multidimensional Patterned Polymer Nanomaterial Design and Application as Pathogen Vaccine Adjuvants," led by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Changchun. More than 30 experts and representatives from participating institutions attended the meeting, which was chaired by Researcher Song Wantong from CIAC.

The project advisory panel consists of Academician Chen Xuexi from CIAC, Professor Yang Xiangliang from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Liu Mingjie from Beihang University, Professor Ding Dan from Nankai University, Professor Yang Dayong from Fudan University, and Professor Sun Tianmeng from Jilin University.

Chen Xuexi delivered the opening speech. The principal investigator Song Wantong provided a detailed report on the project background, overall plan, work schedule, and progress at each stage. The project advisory panel offered comprehensive guidance and constructive suggestions regarding the research content, project management, and forms of outcome presentation.

Vaccines play an irreplaceable role in the prevention and control of major infectious diseases and in cancer treatment. Further exploring the potential of polymer nanomaterials as vaccine adjuvants and translating this into new clinical paradigms is a critical issue that bears on national welfare and people's health. This project will provide important support for the design of novel vaccine adjuvants and innovative vaccine formulations.
