Governor Hu Yuting Visits the Provincial Hydrogen Energy Industry Research Institute
Vigorously Promoting Industrialization of Hydrogen Energy Breakthroughs — Providing Support for Scaling Up Green Hydrogen Applications
On May 12, Hu Yuting, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial CPC Committee and Governor of Jilin Province, visited the Jilin Provincial Hydrogen Energy Industry Research Institute to investigate the development of the "green hydrogen+" industry and presided over a symposium. He emphasized the need to deeply implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech delivered when hearing the work report from the Jilin Provincial CPC Committee and Provincial Government, to prioritize industrial demand and application orientation, adhere to project-based and engineering-based promotion, systematically transform solid-state hydrogen storage and hydrogen refueling technology, promote deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, and provide scientific and technological support for scaling up green hydrogen transportation — including commercialization and industrialization — thereby propelling the leapfrog development of the "green hydrogen+" industry. Gu Gang and Hong Qing participated in the event.
At the Provincial Hydrogen Energy Industry Research Institute, Hu Yuting inspected on-site the production of hydrogen storage alloys and the development of solid-state hydrogen storage and hydrogen refueling equipment. He emphasized that, as a professional institution dedicated to hydrogen energy technology development and innovation chain extension, the Hydrogen Energy Institute is well-staffed and highly capable. He expressed the hope that the institute would leverage its research strengths, gain a clear understanding of market demand, strengthen analysis and demonstration, tackle key scientific challenges, drive continuous product iteration and upgrades, and make greater contributions to the province's position in the new "green hydrogen+" industrial track.
Hu Yuting chaired a symposium to discuss research breakthroughs in solid-state hydrogen storage and refueling systems, hydrogen refueling equipment design plans, economic viability, and expansion of hydrogen energy application scenarios. He pointed out that Jilin Province is currently treating green energy as the greatest growth driver for revitalization and development and an important breakthrough for future industries, accelerating the construction of the nation's largest "green liquid fuel supply base." The "green hydrogen+" industry has broad prospects and an achievable future. He called for persisting in using green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol as important pathways for on-site consumption and conversion of green electricity, coordinating green hydrogen production, application, and supply and marketing, and promoting the leapfrog development of the "green hydrogen+" industry in an extraordinary manner.
Hu Yuting emphasized the need to strengthen confidence and expand green hydrogen production scale, tap the potential of curtailed wind and solar power, expand the scale of "direct green electricity connection," further reduce hydrogen production costs, enhance enterprise enthusiasm for using curtailed wind and solar electricity for hydrogen production, and further increase green hydrogen capacity. He called for vigorously expanding green hydrogen application scenarios, focusing on diverse fields such as transportation and industry, developing hydrogen-powered trains, drones, engineering vehicles, agricultural machinery, embodied intelligent robots, and hydrogen fuel cells, expanding application scenarios such as hydrogen peaking power stations and hydrogen metallurgy, accelerating the development of "computing-electricity coordination," and achieving early product implementation and tangible results. He also called for exploring green hydrogen supply and marketing business models, focusing on skid-mounted solid-state hydrogen storage and refueling stations, further clarifying product functions, optimizing design plans, comprehensively considering economic viability, feasibility, and safety and environmental protection requirements, and rapidly developing a mature commercialized first-of-its-kind prototype for deployment. He also called for accelerating the establishment of a market-oriented "unified purchase and sales" platform for green hydrogen, innovating business models, removing bottlenecks in industrial development, and blazing a trail for high-quality development of the "green hydrogen+" industry.
Hu Yuting pointed out the need to strengthen provincial coordination and implement departmental responsibilities. Relevant industry departments should establish systematic thinking and an "accountability" mindset, proactively perform their duties, strengthen liaison with research institutions, further clarify technology roadmaps, product positioning, and support policies, and promote hydrogen energy technology research, transformation, and application expansion on a project and engineering basis, empowering the development of future industries.
