On July 3, 2011, China-Korea Bilateral Symposium on Polymer Materials was held in Weihai. The two-day symposium was co-hosted by Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC) and Sung Kyun Kwan University, which attracted more than 100 scholars from China and Korea.

The topics discussed on the symposium covered biomedical polymer, nonmaterial, organic electronics, hi-performance polymers and polymer gels. It was the seventh symposium on this area between the two countries.
