After nearly two years of meticulous preparation, the "20th International Symposium on Electroanalytical Chemistry (20th ISEAC)", hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, was grandly held from August 12 to 15, 2025. Concurrently, the 2025 Sino-French Workshop on the International Research Network was also convened.
The symposium aimed to provide a high-level platform for global scholars and researchers in electroanalytical chemistry to exchange ideas, showcase cutting-edge research findings, and promote China's electroanalytical chemistry research to the forefront of the world through international collaboration and communication. Professor Weilin Xu, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry at CIAC, served as the Conference Chair, while Academicians Erkang Wang and Xiurong Yang acted as Co-Chairs. Academician of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Shaojun Dong chaired the International Advisory Board, and Professor Guobao Xu chaired the Organizing Committee. The event attracted 104 international participants from 36 countries spanning Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, and Oceania. In total, 621 scholars and experts have attended the conference, and 401 abstracts were accepted for presentation.
During the symposium, 19 plenary lectures were delivered by renowned experts, supplemented by 190 invited and oral presentations. Participants engaged in in-depth discussion on frontier topics in electroanalytical chemistry, exploring the latest developments and emerging trends in areas such as novel methods and devices for electrochemical analysis, nano- and supramolecular electrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry and electroanalytical chemistry, liquid chromatography for capillary electrophoresis/electrochemiluminescence-based micro total analysis systems and the integration of electrochemistry with other analytical techniques.. These exchanges clarified critical challenges and future directions in the field, offering valuable insights to guide China’s efforts toward achieving global leadership in electroanalytical chemistry.
ISEAC is held biennially in odd-numbered years. Since its inception in 1987, the symposium has now reached its twentieth edition, earning recognition as a premier academic conference, highly esteemed by experts and scholars in the field of electroanalytical chemistry worldwide.
