On Novermber 2, Philip Earis, Managing Editor of Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics(PCCP), Faraday Discussions, Nanoscale and Energy & Environmental Science (EES) , who was invited by prof. Peng Wang visited Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC) and made a presentation on the topic of Energy Research and High-impact Publishing – How China is Changing the World.
During the presentation, Philip Earis firstly made a brief introduction of his role as an editor, and then elaborated on scientific publishing and its development in China and the world. From an editor's perspective, he explained why and how do researchers publish, as well as the manuscript life cycle. His instructive advice on how to improve the quality of the scientific paper attracted CIAC researchers' great attention.
Philip Earis studied at Cambridge University, where he was a researcher in the physics laboratory. In 2003 he joined the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) as an Editor, working on the journal PCCP. He became the Managing Editor of the journal in 2006. In 2008 Philip created the new journal EES, and in 2009, he launched a further new journal, Nanoscale. The above three journals receive nearly 6000 submissions a year.
