ZHU Yongzhong, scientist from TUM (Technical University of Munich) Asia, was invited to give a lecture entitled “Al-Free Zr-Beta Zeolite: A Versatile Green Catalyst for Organic Synthesis” at the CIAC at July. 15,  2011.

The contents of the lecture covered the synthesis of Al-free Zr-beta in the fluoride medium instead of traditional basic medium, the unique catalytic activity of this novel material for several types of organic reactions, such as Meewein-Ponndorf-Verlay (MPV) reduction and Meewein-Ponndorf-Verlay-Oppenauer (MPVO) oxidation, cyclisation of citronellal, hydrogenation of phenol derivatives, and production of lactic derivatives from sugars was presented.
